Leighton T. Roslyn has an eclectic background in electrical engineering, philosophy and religion. He graduated from the University of St. Michael’s College with an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree in 1974 and went on to complete his university education at the University of Toronto Law School, graduating in 1977. He was then called to the Bar of the Province of Ontario in 1979. After practising in Toronto for two years, Mr.Roslyn moved to Sudbury in 1982. From 1986 to 1997 he was engaged as a sole practitioner in the general practice of law with an emphasis at first on real estate, family and criminal matters; with a later emphasis on family law, general litigation, real estate and general practice. Mr. Roslyn has appeared at all levels of the court system up to and including the Ontario Court of Appeal and the Federal Court of Appeal and has participated in both federal and provincial arbitrations. Between 1998 and 2001, Leighton T. Roslyn stepped away from the practice of law to enjoy a working sabbatical with L’Arche Sudbury as its Community Leader and Executive Director. L’Arche Sudbury is one of the Jean Vanier communities where developmentally handicapped adults and their assistants live together in community. As a founding member of the community in 1982, he has been intensely involved with this organization for over 20 years. In January, 2001, Leighton T. Roslyn joined Conroy Trebb Scott Hurtubise LLP as an associate and has focused on litigation matters involving insurance work, contract disputes, construction liens and construction law, real estate disputes, commercial and business law disputes and general Court related issues. He continues to be active in the general practice of law as well in the areas of real estate, wills, estates, powers of attorney, corporate and commercial transactions as well as the law related to charities and non-profit organizations.
